Interpol are preparing their new album to be released by Capitol in early 2010.
From 'Our Love To Admire' in 2007 we haven't heard new material from the band, with members dealing with their personal projects, as the album released this year by singer Paul Banks under the name Julian Plenti, the short film by Carlos D or group Magnetic Morning made by the drummer Sam Fogarino and Adam Franklin of Swervedriver .
Between all, they found the time last spring to record their new, fourth album in the Electric Lady studio in New York. And according to Sam Fogarino their new songs are a return to the sound of their first album 'Turn on the Bright Lights'.
Fogarino in a recent interview in Paste admits that 'Our Love To Admire' was not cohesive. "... It was when reality kicked in as to where we were and where we were never going back to." And continues: "In trying to move forward, there was an unspoken realization that you can’t let go of your sonic-defining tag... The whole point is that there shouldn’t be any bounds, but you’ve got to know your context."
As for the cooperation of the members in the recording of the album he said: "Its such an intense collaboration; four alpha dogs in one room is a lot to deal with. You’ll begrudge it, but you know that each person’s opinion is another form of quality control. And when we all agree, it’s ready for someone to hear."
