Peter Gabriel is preparing an instrumental album with covers of artists such as Radiohead, Arcade Fire, David Bowie, Neil Young and Bon Iver among others.
The title is 'Scratch My Back' and will be an album of songs exchanges, where Gabriel and a few "legendary " Artists will cover each others tracks.
According to Gabriel's associate, John Metcalfe "these are not just simple covers. These are significantly diverse performances of famous pieces. It's pretty radical." The covers will be orchestral, sometimes with a great orchestra, sometimes with less, without guitars, drums and other traditional instruments.
'Scratch My Back' will be released in spring 2010 and its likely to release before that, first executions by Gabriel to pieces of music involved in the project. Then the covers of Gabriel's songs from other artists will be released through the online service at the official site of Gabriel.
And there may not have been a formal statement of the songs and the artists involved, but because in today's world nothing stays hidden for long, according to the Japanese distributor of the album the tracklist will be as follows:
