England keeps dreaming about winning the World Cup in South Africa.
All the past years, in Mundial, the English football team was followed in Mundial by an official song for England for World Cup. In 2006 Embrace were selected with the song World at your Feet. For World Cup 2010, there is no official song for England and as noted here in BBC, the Federation of England "want to be fully focused on the football". But is the choice of a song really a problem?
John Robb with Goldblade wrote a song for England, which is called "England's Still Dreaming". In a recent interview of John Robb on gigjunkie he said the following regarding the fantastic team, he had in mind for this track:
"I like the idea now of being able to self-release records on the Internet. It's so fast isn't it - so you can make comments about now. It's called 'England's Still Dreaming'. We picked a fantasy football team to play the other team. It's a fantasy football team of counter-culture icons so you've got Bob Marley, Joe Strummer, Leonardo da Vinci, Syd Barratt - that's our team. Yeah they'd win but I'm not sure they could play together. It is an interesting team! "
According to Telegraph the top 10 songs that have been created for football and England's effort in the corresponding Mundial are as follows:
1. England World Cup Squad - Back Home (1970)
2. England and New Order - World in Motion (1990)
3. Baddiel and Skinner / The Lightning Seeds - Three Lions 98 (1998)
4. England World Cup Squad - This time (we'll get it right) (1982)
5. Fat Les - Vindaloo (1998)
6. England United - (How does it feel to be) on top of the world (1998)
7. Rider feat. Terry Venables - England Crazy (2002)
8. Ant and Dec - We're on the Ball (2002)
9. Embrace - World at your Feet (2006)
10. Glenn Hoddle and Chris Waddle - Diamond Lights (1987)
