6:30 PM - MEET THE MANNHEIMERS RECEPTION

The City of Mannheim has been supporting culture for quite a while now. Sound unspectacular? It is. Except for the fact that pop culture is a central part of the municipal support structure in Mannheim. We take pop culture seriously. And have done so for quite some time now. If you are looking to present great bands while connecting with various people and getting to know a lot of new ones and even enjoy yourself in the meantime, Reeperbahn Festival is the place to be.

Meet The Mannheimers 2

There is a lot happening in the coziest of Germany’s bigger cities. And all of the people making it happen are going to be here tonight. We are looking forward to seeing everyone. Come by and say hi and have a drink with us!

8:00 PM - MEET THE MANNHEIMERS SHOWCASE

Considering the size of the city (about 300.000 inhabitants), Mannheim manages to surprise musically on a regular basis. Of course, the Pop Academy Baden-Württemberg is partly responsible for this dynamic, but certainly not solely. The showcase features three bands from different scenes. Three different aspects of pop culture. Trying to identify the specific link to the city is nonsense in a way. Three outstanding acts. That is all you need to know. Period.

8:00 PM Riot of Colours
8:45 PM Haller
9:35 PM Laura Carbone

Meet The Mannheimers

RIOT OF COLOURS / industrial britpop

This band from Mannheim has found a very intriguing way to include all their hopes, fears and doubts in their music, with influences of British bands and songwriters ranging from Muse or Coldplay to Oasis and John Lennon. However, the band has clearly found their own way to tell their stories. Personal and intimate stories, crafted by Songwriter Steffen Foshag, who has fused his own biography with the one that we all share.

HALLER / pop

Haller is what pop will be tomorrow. He creates modern classics with intricate lyrics, inspiring guitars and abrasive electronica influences. He fashions new shiny garments for pop to wear but is not afraid to rip them to pieces again.

LAURA CARBONE / indie pop

Laura Carbone seems as if she just stepped out of a David Lynch film in order to take us to the dark side of pop with her trenchant lyrics and gloomy melodies. On her solo debut album “Sirens” the former singer of electro pop outfit “Deine Jugend” pays homage to the icons of 80s and 90s dark wave pop such as PJ Harvey, Laura Branigan and Chris Isaak. Laura Carbone celebrates this creative departure on tracks like “Heavy Heavy”, “Stigmatized” or the first single “Swans”, with irresistible melodies and nonchalant rock’n’roll attitude included.
