The proposals by Music is my Radar for the first half of March can be read here . Those of the second half follow:
The Pains of being Pure at heart come from Brooklyn, but their sound approximates that of the legendary label Sarah Records. The first homonym album by Kip Berman and his Asian friend, Peggy Wang' s band could have been released by the Bristol label, while they are clearly influenced by the Teenage Fan Club and Jesus and Mary Chain. Their album was released last February and they were named after an unpublished children's story a friend of Kip's had once written.
The Peter Bjorn and John will certainly not disappoint their fans with their new album called Living Thing, since it includes some beautiful tracks, as the first single Nothing to worry about , but is certainly not as good as the excellent Writer's block of 2006, with which we met them.
In March, four years after Understanding, the popular Norwegian Royksopp returned with their third album that will satisfy those who loved the first two. In the female vocals, Robyn, Lykke Li and Karin Dreijer Andersson participate in the album.
The Starsailor released their fourth album All the plans, with which they return to the melancholy of their first record, while surpassing their two previous moderate albums. A performance of the first single Tell me it's not over has also been recorded, in which Brandon Flowers from The Killers partcipates.
Marrianne Faithfull, completing 43 years of career releases Easy come easy go, which includes 10 (or 18 in the deluxe edition) covers: from Dolly Parton and Billie Holiday to Decemberists, with some help from Nick Cave, as well as Morrissey, BRMC and Sean Lenon .
Peter Doherty released his first solo album produced by Stephen Street, including co-operations with Graham Coxon and Dot Allison. I Don't think that the result would move many, beyond the Libertines fans.
The fifth album by the Decemberists is called The hazards of love, it is a rock opera and concerns the story of Margaret and her lover William.
The Empire of the Sun were named after the novel by JG Ballard and consist of Luke Steele (the Sleepy Jackson) and Nick Littlemore (the Pnau). They are sure impressive due to their clothing, as can be seen in the video clips of their two very good singles from last year, We are the people and Walking a dream which have been shot in Mexico and Shangai, respectively. Still, their album released in October 2008, I could not say transcends mediocrity.
The compilation War Child Heroes is the fifth to be released by the non-governmental organization that tries to help the children living in the war zones of our planet. The album includes covers by the Hot Chip in Transmission, Lilly Allen featuring Mick Jones in Straight to Hell, Duffy in Live and Let Die, while the ones that clearly stand out are those by Estelle in Superstition, the Scissor Sisters in Do the Strand and Heroes by the TV On the Radio .
The N.A.S.A. is the band of Squeak E. Clean and DJ Zegon and in their album they work with David Byrne, Tom Waits, Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Santogold, etc.
