During the last days and generally in all these years, many people who love music are really concerned about the level of concerts - Festivals in Greece. Mix Grill contacted with the organizers of many European Festivals and asked them a simple question: " How are you dealing with bad weather during a Festival or a concert?"
The first response came from one of the largest European Festivals, Roskilde , which takes place every year since 1971 in Denmark. The Festival is organized by Roskilde Festival Charity Society, which is a non profit Organization of about 25 full-time employees and thousands of volunteers. Each year, The Roskilde Festival Charity Society ensures that the profits from the festival are donated directly to humanitarian and cultural purposes.
The Festival began today and ends on the 5th of July. Some of the groups of Roskilde Festival 2009 are: Coldplay, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Oasis, Kanye West, Royksopp, Pet Shop Boys , etc.
So, how are these people facing the bad weather, which is usual in Denmark?
" We're always prepared to face the weather. The festival has plans for different weather situations. If we have heavy rain for longer periods we'll spred different materials like small stones or wood chip over the roads and some of the audience areas like in front of the stages. We'll also have extra trucks to pump away water on hand.

On wery sunny days other problems arise, that have to be dealt with. We distribute lots of free drinking water from the stages to prevent dehydration, and have extra supplies of sunscreen lotion stocked. Our camping guards are extra vigillant to prevent the break out of fires.
In stormy weather there are clear guidelines for strengthening structures such as sound- and lightingtowers and stage tents. They also describe procedures for evacuation.
Everything is described in a large document, that reviews every security aspect of the festival. This is revised every year in cooperation with the police, rescueservices and fireservices.
So it's all about planning."
