Many of you have heard the name "Florence" when many sites where pompously announcing her appearance in this year's Synch Festival . Others do not even know her and if someone told you that the song you hear on the radio quite frequently ("Rabbit heart") is hers, you would understand what this is about.
Instead of a album critique with a beginning, middle and end, today I decided to present the debut album of Florence and Machine in an interview format with my own self. The main objective is to try to explain why I heard this record so many times in the past few weeks .
-Firstly tell us a few things about Florence and the Machine.
-Florence Welch together with the Machine, who are essentially different singers doing backup vocals with Florence, are coming from London, England. The debut album "Lungs" was released on 6 July 2009 and the first single of the album was "Kiss with a fist", which will be used on the soundtrack of the movie "Jennifer's Body".
-What kind of music do they play?
-She certainly has a distinct profile in music. With several common elements with Tori Amos and Kate Bush, the music of Florence is basically her voice. This guides the other instruments, that mostly play second fiddle in the songs. In her appearance in Synch, the above was obvious. All worked for the priestess Florence, which rocked to the rhythms of her music, highlighting her slim body with the black dress she wore.
-They say that Florence's voice is really very good. Is it true?
-She's definitely not Patti Smith or Janis Joplin. But she has a prolific voice with intense highs and lows, which are the main features of her style. If you're not convinced by the songs in Lungs, you'ld you be sure if you've heard her in Synch Festival 2009.
-Which songs stand out from the album?
-OK, "Rabbit heart" stands out and is by far one of the singles of the year! "Howl" will definitely be the sixth single of the album, since already it's preceded by the quite well "Kiss with a fist", "Dog days are over", "Cosmic Love", "Drumming love" and of course the "bunny" - Rabbit heart. Besides, when you see six songs recommended from one album, you understand how much I liked the album.
-Why do the English promote her so much?
-It's hard to answer that. The British music industry is a well-oiled machine, which always looks for such new talents, with their own style of music to bring out something different in 2009. Florence sports the appearance and dynamics to support something special in her live performances.
-Will you tell me one last reason to persuade me to hear "Lungs";
-You'll have to do it anyway, because domestic radios will start in playing many of its songs in September. It is not such a convincing plea, e... I won't tell you more.

2. "Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)" - (* * * * *)
