It's been known for a while that Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have composed the soundtrack of the new highly anticipated film John Hillcoat 'The Road' starring Viggo Mortensen . And now that the film makes its way to the screening room came the announcement of the release of its soundtrack. On January 12 it will be released in Britain, although Cave's impatient friends will be able to purchase it in digital form from 23 November through Mute. Hopefully with 'The Road' will come at last the Oscar nomination so that we can admire the duet Cave and Ellis in tuxedoes on the red carpet!

Since his 2006 record  'Born In The UK' we haven't heard anything new from Badly Drawn Boy and he finally returns to albums this year with a soundtrack.  'Is There Nothing We Can Do', which will be released on December 14, is the soundtrack of the British television film 'The Fattest Man In Britain' starring Timothy Spall. Of course do not forget that Badly Drawn Boy had done in 2002 the soundtrack for the film of the Weitz brothers 'About A Boy' based on the same title book by Nick Hornby, starring Hugh Grant.

Björk does not deal for the first time with a soundtrack. This time it is the children's film 'Moomins and the Comet Chase', where the Moomins are white creatures that look like hippos and are the heroes of the Fin book author/illustrator Tove Jansson. The song called 'The Comet Song' is a composition by Björk and her frequent partner Sjόn.

Finally Les Savy Fav wrote a song for a children's show. The show of Nickelodeon 'Yo Gabba Gabba' has hosted other indie bands such as Weezer, Shins, Of Montreal and MGMT, but it was Les Savy Fav's turn to write a simple and lively song for a short cartoon. The title of the song is 'Shoes' and they sing of how happy they are to have new shoes!
