Today I suggest we remember some of the greatest albums and more singles from the years of British Punk.
The path of the Rock & Roll, moreover, the explosion of Punk was more than decisive and still (in many ways) is today. Here we go ...
1. THE UNDERTONES - Teenage kicks / September 1978 ... the most beloved single of John Peel ever (there's good news for the fans of Peel below ...)
2. THE DAMNED - New Rose / Fall '76 ... and the first 45' of the Damned, and typically marks the arrival of British Punk. Very soon I will have in Rockzone * an interview with them. Stay tuned ...)
3. SEX PISTOLS - Never mind the bollocks / What can one say here for one of the most important and one of the best albums of all time!
4. STRANGLERS - Rattus Norvegicus / they still remember Rock in Athens ... and will see them again soon, with Billy Idol in fact for the first time in our country. 2 in 1 ...
5. GENERATION X - Your generation / As we say about Billy Idol, perhaps the most typical of the time before the commercial success of few years later, and looks like a response to the My generation of Who, though it is just nice. ..
6. BUZZCOCKS - Spiral scratch EP / From .. nice, to masterpiece ... Just listen ... preparing new album soon.
8. GANG OF FOUR - Entertainment! / I know, I know ... post punk sound ... but what else to advertise the interview coming soon ... The fact that names like Rem and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers are bowing before them speaks for itself.
9. CHELSEA - Right to work / From the most typical and pure diamond of the British Punk ... unique single for sure!
10. THE CLASH - The Clash / Amazing albums! All of them! Yet their debut album has this innocence that makes it stand out ... Absolutely desicive and integrated as a project.
11. 101'ERS - Keys to your heart / Joe Strummer a little before the Clash, the years here of pub rock, already shows the way to the next step ... the best singles of 1976 .. .
12. JAM - In the city / The debut album of unique Jam. As for the title, one of the best songs of Weller until now (and one of my favorites from 10 to 20 at he same time) ...
13. X RAY SPEX - Germ Free Adolescents / Poly Styrene (along with SLITS and of course SIOUXSIE paved ways ...) still remains a girl! The same spontaneous girl that Tony Wilson prefered in particular, for its spontaneity and talent ... wonderful and unique persona.
14. ALTERNATIVE TV-The Image Has Cracked / Just the fact that Mark Perry was the legendary creator of Sniffin 'Glue, the fanzine recorded the essence of the period and an entire generation at the same time ... Mythical album! Splittin 'in 2 ...
15. WIRE - Pink flag / Pioneers ...? Unthinkable talented ...? Just the Wire ... This is sufficient .. I hear we will see them in September.
16. THE FALL - Bingo Masters Breakout / From early on they seemed to do something special ... They have new amazing album indeed. Always the same, and always different ... feature of the truly great.
17. VIBRATORS - London girls / Too bad they had not seen the acceptance they deserved, but they rather not care that much finally ...
18. UK SUBS - Stranglehold / 1979 ... of the few bands that survived, playing a role (dominant and characteristic one) and second-generation phase of the British Punk with names like Vice Squad, GBH, etc.
19. VICE SQUAD - Last Rockers / Until today, they are closing their live performances with this gem .. They have a good new work ...
20. RUTS - In A Rut / Perhaps the most injustice (commercial) band of the planet ... Listen again and again ... Especially in the line of Peel sessions and closing with Peel, let's say here that if all goes well, the coming months will see you and (online) from another point In Rockzone (90.4 / Kanaliena.gr) as we meet every Saturday 8 to 10 for years now ...
PS: Noticed that there's a missing number '7 ' out of the twenty. Fill it in yourself ...
