¡Hola! I saw the future and its name is Sleigh Bells. Let's start taking things from the beginning before reaching the future, let us look a little at the rich history to which the first day of the festival was dedicated.
On San Miguel Stage, the biggest stage of Primavera, appeared on Thursday three names of rich history delivering lessons to the youngest. In the raw I saw The Fall, Superchunk and Pavement, the first having Mark E Smith in unusually high spirits and presenting mainly their new work, the second were in super shape combining some of the best of the old songs with some fresh from the upcoming album and the third gathering the most people of all playing their greatest hits.
It is true that their songs remain ageless but since I have personally seen them one too many times in the '90s after a while I preferred to go over the stage of Pitchfork for Sleigh Bells and I have not regretted it. By far the top new name of the first day, impressed the relatively small audience they gathered presenting the excellent debut "Treats".
Their tracks played live have even more energy and strength, while impressive is the presence on stage of the singer. More about them shortly.
The highlights of the first day were the interpretation of "Precision Auto" by Superchunk along with Tim Harrington of Les Savy Fav as well as appearances like Broken Social Scene with many guest stars (such as Spiral Stairs of Pavement, by John McEntire of Tortoise and Owen Pallet) and The XX the Ray-Ban Stage. We have even seen, yet partially, The Big Pink, Chrome Hoof, Titus Andronicus, Surfer Blood, Sic Alps and Monotonix.
