The rising British singer Adele was booed because after her success on the charts, she decided to leave the smaller stages of London and appear only in arenas.
In fact she announced it during a concert in the now small for her fans Hammersmith Apollo Theatre. The statement is as follows:
"Too many people want to see my shows ... This is the last time you'll catch me at a venue like this. These will be my last theater dates as I'm moving on to arenas. I'll be at the O2 [Arena] in February."(NME)
The audience was naturally disappointed by this statement and the underestimation of the smaller and more intimate stages, and that resulted in booing. It seems that they have read a previous interview in Q Magazine and understood the contradictions. At the beginning of the year, in this magazine, she had described in a negative way the big stages and claimed that she would prefer to appear for twelve years in the small, dark Barfly in Camden, rather than O2. At the time, unlike at present, she seemed to find terrorizing a large audience and the size of the space that would make for a 'cruder' show.
"You think I'm gonna play a fucking arena? Are you out of your mind? I'd rather play 12 years at the Barfly than one night at the O2!"(NME)
