Pj Harvey has earned several distinctions in 2011 with the album Let England Shake. She has even said she would like to be a war correspondent to get inspiration for her next work. In 2008 she saw for the first time the work of Seamus Murphy in an exhibition in London and it seems that the photos marked her. According to Societe perrier, the proposal for co-operation was made then, before she completed the album.
The record of 2011 will be released on DVD with short films from the war photographer Seamus Murphy and the entire title of it will be Let England Shake: 12 Short Films by Seamus Murphy . The material was collected by the photographer from the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Middle East, and several shots from England have been added.
The photographer says that he was inspired more by Harvey's work, rather than vice versa. The main theme of the film was to record a road trip in England in winter, listening to her music.
Additional material will be the notes of the photographer and the new video for 'England' (Solo Version). Read the entire interview with Murphy here and see the video for 'The Glorious Land':
