After 11 years together, JET announced they're splitting in a post in their official website the day before yesterday evening:
"After many successful years of writing, recording and touring we wish to announce our discontinuation as a group. From the many pubs, theatres, stadiums and festivals all across the world it was the fans that made our amazing story possible and we wish to thank them all. Thank you, and goodnight."
JET, ie brothers Nic and Chris Cester, Cameron Muncey and Mark Wilson started their course in rock 'n' roll music with a very successful first album 'Get Born' (2003), which includes their best-known and successful song 'Are you gonna be my girl?'. The album has sold over 3.5 million pieces. Since then, they released two more albums 'Shine On' (2006) and 'Shaka Rock' (2009) and in total have sold over 6.5 million records.
In their place of origin, Australia, they have taken awards many times for various songs such as: 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl', 'Cold Hard Bitch', 'Look What You've Done', ' She's a Genius' and 'Seventeen'. They have appeared with names like T ool, Muse, The Killers, My Chemical Romance while they were touring as a support group for Rolling Stones.
After the dissolution of the band members will follow different paths, as already Nic Cester and Mark Wilson have done, who are dealing now with a new band, DamnDogs along with Mitch McIvor and Louis Macklin.
