Flow Talks offer a platform for future-defining discussions on current urban development projects and views before the festivities begin. The discussions connect festival goers with groups, communities and professionals creating urban life with talks focused on how cities become more attractive to people and more pleasant to live in.
Flow Festival together with think tank Demos Helsinki present Flow Talks: Urban Life, a series of discussions on the afternoon of Friday August 14th. The program includes co-creation workshops and talks from top urban influencers.
Life in urban areas will be the focus of four different workshops that take on urban events, smart city solutions, new forms of services and collaborative construction. A group of urban influencers have been invited to take part in the workshops: creative communities and organisations, as well as those who create and make urban structures possible. The aim of Flow Talks is to create an international meeting place for the top developers of urban life.
Keynote speakers will present new views to the future of urban life. The speakers include Dan Hill, who leads future research and best practice development at the Future Cities Catapult think tank, Lin Skaufel, who is an architect, urban planner, professional judge, mentor and urbanist, Alexander Ståhle, the urban design researcher and CEO of Spacescape, as well as James Hanusa, who is an expert of community engagement, urban sustainability and co-creation, and leads New Initiatives at the Burning Man Project.
Flow Talks is organised by Flow Festival and Demos Helsinki with partners Fira, the City Planning Department of Helsinki, Y-Asunnot, Naked Approach and Forum Virium.
Flow Talks will be organised in Voimala at the Suvilahti festival area on August 14th from 3pm to 6pm. Participation requires a Flow ticket for Friday or a festival pass for multiple days, including Friday. Pre-registeration is requested for Flow Talks workshops.
