1. Fire – Puressence

Puressence are a band having received much love in our country, for unknown reasons. Not being amazing, they have a recognizable, dramatic style, which is now completely their own. They started off with their homonym album in 1996, out of which I have chosen this dark and atmospheric track.
2. Walk In Fire – Doves

The third album by the Doves, Some Cities
(2005), continued the band's roising path, presenting a sound much more earthly, based more on guitars. This ambitious track is one of the best out of that work.
3. Soul On Fire – Spiritualized

"A Devil's project... with a little driving by me" is how Jason Pierce described Songs In A&E in 2008. Soul On Fire is the first single out of that album and it is an erotic song, dreassed with acoustic guitar, drums and stringed instruments. Exceptional and uplifting...
4. Back In The Fire – Paul Weller

Slide guitars open the way for some jazzy accords and a persisting drum rhythm. One of Modfather's best songs for the departing decade out of a rather unappreciated album, Heliocentric in 2000.
5. I’m On Fire – Bruce Springsteen

The instrumentation of the fourth single out of the supersuccessful Born In The U.S.A.
(1984) was performed in a totally spontaneous way, when Springsteen started playing some accords and his musiciand started playing along spontaneously. The almost rockabilly rhythm was totally opposed to the low-tone atmospere of the song, leading to a great result.

Meat Puppets II in agreat cover by Nirvana. It can be found in the band's swan song, MTV Unplugged In New York, released a few months after Kurt Cobain's suicide in 1994.
7. This Wheel’s On Fire – The Band

This song was originally recorded in 1967 in the legendary sessions of Dylan with The Band. This performance can be found in The Basement Tapes in 1975. Here in the version out of the esceptional debut by The Band which was released in 1969 entitled Music From Big Pink.
8. Light My Fire – The Doors
(Jim Morrison-Robby Krieger-Ray Manzarek-John Densmore)
Another band that in my opinion is quite overestimated.
This is one of their best songs, written in the biggest part by their guitarist, Robby Krieger. It was quite successful in the international chart despite the long instrumental parts. It was included in the band's debut entitled after its name released in 1967.
9. To the fire – Melina Kana

This exceptional song opens the album Tis agapis gerakaris
which is the third album by Thanasis Papakonstantinou released in 1996. The performer of all songs but one is Melina Kana, one of the best singers of the last 20 years. It is the last project by the composer from Thessaly dressed in a conventional sound, as the next one, Lafyra in 1998, he started experimenting...
10. Within The Fire – Second Hand

...which led to his co-operation, as a producer, with the band Night On Earth. Out of that came last year's album Second Hand
where the latter cover or decompose songs by Papakonstantinou, 'translating' them in english. So we close today with this performance of the previous song, which transforms it completely...
