Five years have passed since 'Broken Social Scene' of ... Broken Social Scene and finally the band from Canada has almost finished the new album to be released on May 4 by Arts & Crafts.
The band, known for the "fluidity" of their line up, will consist in this album of: Kevin Drew of course (vocals - guitar), Brendan Canning (vocals - bass), Justin Peroff (drums), Andrew Whiteman (vocals - guitar), Charles Spearin and Sam Goldberg (guitars).Production was undertaken by John McEntire (of Tortoise and Sea and Cake among others) and their guest list is at least impressive: from old acquaintances /friends /former members of the group we have Feist, Amy Millan and Evan Cranley of Stars, Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw of Metric, Jason Collett, Ohad Benchetrit of Do Make Say Think, John Crossingham, Marty Kinack, Julie Penner, Leon Kingstone and Lisa Lobsinger.
Also invited are the newcomers in the party Spiral Stairs of Pavement, Sam Prekop of Sea and Cake, Doug McCombs of Tortoise, former singer of Death From Above 1979 Sebastien Grainger, Susan Voelz of Poi Dog Pondering, Alison Chesley of Helen Money and Jason Tait of Weakerthans.The, yet untitled, album was recorded in Chicago at Soma Studios of John McEntire during last year.
After the release of the album, Broken Social Scene will begin a series of concerts in America and Europe ... How futile is it to hope that it will pass around here?Broken Social Scene - 7/4 Shoreline
