According to the NY Times, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and other musicians with a long carrer in the music business will be able to get all the rights of their songs - albums, when they have completed 35 years of "life".

In 1978 passed a law related to Copyright, according to which various artists still alive, like Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel etc. can recover the rights of their albums in 2013, ie 35 years after the first release. Indeed, already Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Bryan Adams, Loretta Lynn, Kris Kristofferson and Charlie Daniels have applied - through their representatives - in the United States Copyright Office to get the rights of their work.

Of course this is disastrous for the record companies, which have benefited mostly from old rather than new releases, that are leaked on the Internet. Thus, the major labels will not let
this legislation pass so easily. Already the court battles have started.
