Official confirmation of the reconnection of the Stone Roses, was on Tuesday in London, which was more or less thought inevitable after intense speculation started last Friday.
But bassist Mani made the news conference more distressing, entering the room he said "We're here to deny that The Stone Roses are reforming - see ya!" British journalists saw the humor, clapped and waited to ask questions.
The first question was about their immediate plans, Ian Brown stated that they will tour the world in 2012, starting with two appearances at home, Manchester, on 29 and June 30. Of course all this would happen ... 'if you buy tickets' said a laughing Reni. Plans for reconnection include creative aspect. Brown, wanted 'not a trip down memory lane', and they have some new songs.
The more assertive in the past for the reunion, guitarist Squire, said he changed his mind when he started meeting Brown. 'It was surreal. We went from crying and laughing about the old days to writing songs in a heartbeat'. For Squire, it was enough to rekindle the friendship with Brown and 'It made think it was possible and it might even be enjoyable'.
In the fifteen years that followed the dissolution, the members of the Stone Roses did not remain stagnant. Bassist Mani was a member of Primal Scream and with regret announces that he will take a break from them, because they once saved his butt. With the same English humor, with underlying suspicion about the success of the reconnection, Reni answers to Mani, 'They might save your arse again'. The reunion was not for money. Certainly cash benefits will come eventually of course. Mani, said it was because he was bored for 15 years, to have people asking, in any city he toured with Primal Scream, when Stone Rose will be back together again.
Leaving mistakes in the past, Brown states that there is no hatred between them. There were times that they hurt each other, but 'Love conquers all'. Besides, Brown, believes that they are still a little magic between them and when they played together it was fantastic. Because they're doing it for themselves, he's sure that what will emerge will be good. Mani, with more emotion, says 'More than the music, more than the upcoming gigs and potential new albums, it's about four friends from Manchester rekindling something that was lost on a personal level'.
