May is characterized by comebacks of groups and artists - some of who haven't had a new recording for many years. Some of these releases are worthy, and some other bands, I think, should have been limited to reconnenting-concerts since - judging by the result - there was no source of inspiration for new releases. Furthermore, during this month there are very strong releases from "domestic" (greek) groups.
Horrors have already caused debate regarding their new release, and something tells me that it will be included in a few lists of the best in end of the year. Although the band appeared two years ago, as garage rock'n'roll -shaped, with the styling and voice that reminds us Jesus and Mary chain , and the Cramps , with the participation of Geoff Barrow of Portishead in the production, they offer a valuable outcome that will be loved by those stuck to the dark sound of the Sound, of Cure and the My Bloody Valentine . Songs to notice are; the Three decades , Do you remember , Who can say , Scarlet fields and I can ' t control myself.
Surprise of the month is the return of Madness that nine years after the release of Wonderful, they introduce a double CD The liberty of Norton folgate with compositions, especially in the first cd, that remind us of their big successes of the 80's. Songs to notice; the Forever young , On the town , We are London , Sugar and spice and Rainbows .
The Manic Street Preachers released the Journal for Plague Lovers , produced by Steve Albini , which was characterized by critics as Holy Bible pt II . All the songs on the disc based on the lyrics of ,missing since 1994, their member Richey James . There will be no single release from the disc, as indicated, and songs to notice are the strong; Pelled Apples , Journal for Plague Lovers , Jackie Collins existential question time , All is Vanity and Marlon JD . details here .
Canadian Handsome Furs is the side project of Dan Boeckner , frontman of Wolf Parade , and his wife, Alexei Perry . In February they released their second album entitled Face Control in the Sub Pop . Songs to notice; a single I'm confused and Thy will be done , Radio Kaliningrand .
Palov & Mishkin is the group formed by former schoolmates who met again by chance after almost 20 years. Launching these days their first album Think twice in the Cast-a-blast and characterize their music as a mixture funk, latin, reggae, hip hop, cumbia and breaks .
Broken Family Band with their fifth album Please and thank you , reminding us the sound of Sebadoh , while the vocals bring to mind slightly Decemberists . Songs to notice; Cinema VS House , Don't burry us and the single Salivating .
Bob Dylan has released his 33rd album entitled Together through life, which returns to the old, classic sound.
The 64 year old Booker T leader of Booker T and the MGs released in April his first solo album Potato Hole accompanied by Drive By Truckers and Neil Young on guitar.
Maximo Park after a very good Our earthly pleasures , released a less important Quicken the heart and the single The kids are sick again . Also, the ninth album in 13 year long course with the title Dark days / Light years was released by the Super Furry Animals .
May have created expectations with their previous release So this is goodbye but the Junior Boys this year took it back with the Begone dull care. They address to a specific group of followers of electropop . Songs to notice; the Hazel and Bits and pieces .
The Art Brut released last month, the third album in production Black Francis which, like its predecessors, will see great sympathy with the numerous friends of Fall . Notice the single Alcoholics unanimous .
Regarding next month's concerts read detailed reviews here . Part B of May next Monday.
