Moby announced a new single called "The Day", which will be released on May 9. The track is included in the upcoming new album, "Destroyed", which will be released from his own label Little Idiot on May 16 (read here on the album).
"The Day" will be available in advance on iTunes on 2 April, while the official release date (single and remixes) is on May 9. The package includes the original track, with remixes by Lifelike, Basto, Gesaffelstein, Eddie Thoneick and Funkerman .
"This song was written in a hotel room in Spain, at dawn, when I could not sleep. It was a beautiful hotel room, a beautiful ideal hotel room and it was six or seven in the morning. I wrote it on an acoustic guitar and recorded it on my phone, brought it home and re-recorded it with old electronic equipment I have in my studio ". - Moby
"The Day" is indirectly inspired by David Bowie and Brian Eno's production, that Moby believes it is now part of his DNA. Growing up, Moby had constantly the albums by Bowie " Low" and "Heroes" playing on the turntables. One of the few tracks in "Destroyed", in which Moby sings, "The Day" is a deeply personal song about the despair and the dark emotions that come to light late at night and are usually associated with a terrible addiction. These ideas and issues are contained in the entire new album by Moby.
