I am trying to remember the times when I listened to both joyful and melancholic music, when I had to choose between the Cure and A-ha , the Sound to Johny Hates Jazz, Nick Cave to Rick Astley (o.k. I'm joking). Last time a «melancholic» group to hit, then was with the Interpol (okay leave behind Massive Attack , Portishead and other forces of gray Bristol). Plus all the euphoria accept more than one song or disc, the better (can lose a lot, I know ...).
Why should I miss Mike Snow, these wild Swedish people that their homonymous debut, and particularly with the opening song Animal «make» my mood. At moments they are far too happy, but basically the album is in a good mood, playful, carefree, and at times brilliant. They did not create a masterpiece, but it is very melodic, fast, within the bubble pop , and compared with the other attempt of this year, the Passion Pit , they do better. Points to excel is their simplicity and the vocals, less experimental and better voices (while very similar Passion Pit, they some times over do it) . It is no coincidence that at Melt Festival they both appear on the same stage.
Not only is the Animal , of course, but also the Song for no one and A horse is not a home (my favorite).
The songs resemble each other in all their tricks to the sound used, the orchestration and the way it is built, and this is perhaps the only complaint there. In other words have a good summer ... again and again!
