Who: MGMT
Where: at Technopolis in Gazi
Audio: Good
The public: enough and especially qualitative . They came mainly those who really like the music of MGMT.
Started: 10:17 PM
Finish: 11:30 PM (with an encore)
stood out: "The Handshake", "Electric feel" (video), "Time to pretend", "Of Moons, Birds & Monsters", "The Youth".
Shortly after 9 last night, I had already missed Cyanna and I heard the first songs of Future of the left . To tell you the truth, they didn't effect me the three guys from Cardiff, Wales, unlike ody, who I liked. In my opinion they did not fit with MGMT.
Fifteen minutes before 10, the band left and the stage began to prepare for the guys with "longcoats". Half an hour later two kids in jeans jackets (and not longcoats eventually) appeared on stage amid applause, and with them the other three musicians, that frame their concerts. "But they look so young !!!" Yet, even if we are not used to it, the young mostly create the good music for our current decade. So it was in previous decades as well ...
It is true that we felt a little strange last night. Finally, we saw a good new band in its first steps and not its last. With a mix of music that are sometimes closer to the Psychedelic 60s and sometimes the heavy rock of the 70s, the MGMT have a sophisticated musical set, which succeeded in letting us in their "world" almost immediately.
The singer and second guitarist Andrew James VanWyngarden certainly had his childish (but in a good way) manner to communicate with the public. Vocals were good, although in some places covered by the other instruments. The "keyboard guy" Ben David-Martin Goldwasser had his own style with black glasses and without a connection to the crowd, "dressed" in his own way the audio of MGMT. Moreover, Andrew's voice and Ben's keys are the hallmarks of the band.
Of the remaining three, stands out the main guitarist, who was "multitasking" and played beyond his own solo on guitar, keyboards and drums. He also had very good stage performance, like the other hairy guy, the drummer. The two sometimes reminded us of the 70s. The bass player may have been quiet, but in regards to music was excellent. Finally, the most essential feature of all was that they showed that they really enjoyed it and this is very important for a good live.
For 1 hour and a few minutes, the MGMT played the entire "Oracular Spectacular" and their two new songs "It's Working", "Song For Dan Treacy" (video). Best moment for littlefluffyclouds was "Handshake" and I wouldn't disagree on this, adding the "Electric Feel"," The Youth". Very nice performance of "Of Moons, Birds & Monsters" with a super solo towards the end. In "Time to pretend", "Electric Feel" and "Kids" was great as you can understand. In fact, in "Kids", which was the last song of their set, the MGMT and left their instruments and as children "played" in the literal sense and non so literal. The piece was playback and in some places were treated with their instruments, creating a sometimes not so good sound effect.
In the encore, the band jammed for a little over 10 minutes and they said goodbye, leaving all of us happy, so delighted with the overall appearance.
So left us the summer concerts ... Does the winter will be as awful as last year? At present, however, according to the reports, which have been made, there seems to be no light in the end of the tunnel ...
